OUR STORY

The Casita

Eufemio and Magdalena Varela lived their whole adult lives in the house that is now known as The Casita.  They raised their four children in the home and spent many days there watching their grand children and great-grand children,  instilling love and hard work in each of them.

Tricia Gunter, grand daughter of Eufemio and Magdalena Varela, took those lessons and decided to open a resale and consignment store to honor her late grandparents and their passions, and to provide her community and those outside the community an opportunity to not only sell items they've made or no longer need, but to offer those items to customers looking to find their own treasure.

Magdalena (Elena) Varela had a true passion for crocheting.   Her children, grandchildren and great-grand children will forever remember her sitting in her comfortable chair with her yarn, crochet needle and pattern book, marked with a bobby pin, crocheting blankets, sweaters, or doilies for family and friends.  If ever a new baby was announced, she would always start work on a new baby blanket as it brought her much joy to know that she could provide something useful for the baby.

We miss her dearly, but her memory lives on in Elena's Corner located in The Casita, where you will find handcrafted items just like she used to make.
